Windows96
Windows96 / @whitegavriel
Windows 96 is an electronic music project by Brazilian composer and producer Gabriel Eduardo. He is generally labeled as 'vaporwave,' despite his sound evolving away from the typical vaporwave style, leaning more towards chillwave. However, some people argue that his music has helped vaporwave itself evolve beyond its plunderphonic roots, moving towards more original compositions that evoke the same vibes.
Macintosh Plus – "リサフランク420ー"
Vektroid / @RaRa
The album's second track, "Lisa Frank 420 / Modern Computing" which is a slowed down, chopped and screwed remix of "It's Your Move" by Diana Ross, has been noted as a model for vaporwave songs.
Vektroid began producing and releasing electronic music in 2005. She has released music through aliases, including Macintosh Plus, PrismCorp, among others. Paolo Scarpa characterized Vektroid 's music as an "exposé of late capitalism"

Saint Pepsi
Saint Pepsi is an American electronic music producer known for his work in the vaporwave and future funk genres. He gained prominence in the early 2013s with albums like Hit Vibes, which became a cult classic in the vaporwave scene. His music is characterized by nostalgic sampling, upbeat disco influences, and funky grooves.
Saint Pepsi / @SkylarSpence
In 2015, DeRobertis retired the Saint Pepsi moniker due to potential legal concerns and started releasing music under his real name, later adopting the name Skylar Spence. Under this name, he shifted towards a more polished indie-pop and nu-disco sound, most notably with his album Prom King (2015).By the way, Winner's Circle (SAINT PEPSI Deluxe Edition) is one of my favorite albums. <3
Nmesh
Nmesh, electronic music producer and visual artist known for his contributions to the vaporwave, plunderphonics, and experimental electronic scenes. With diversified albums and genres, people may find his work quite different from other producers.
Nmesh / @Nmesh
Nmesh is known for pushing the boundaries of vaporwave, often incorporating elements of ambient, breakbeat, and IDM into his work. His unique approach has made him a cult favorite within experimental music circles.Alongside another producer known for being a classic vaporwave composer, Nmesh was able to bring traditional vaporwave ideas together in a nearly straight-up plunderphonics record.
猫 シ Corp.
猫 シ Corp./ @Cat System Corp.
猫 シ Corp. has been influential in both classic vaporwave and its more ambient and experimental offshoots, highly influential. His work is often associated with the mallsoft subgenre, which focuses on evoking the empty, echoing corridors of forgotten commercial spaces.
His music often explores themes of consumerism, abandoned malls, and cyberpunk dystopias, blending smooth jazz, muzak, and ambient textures with a distinctly melancholic, dreamlike atmosphere.

Greek statues are a common visual motif in vaporwave.Post modernism drew heavily from ancient aesthetics and re-presented them alongside modern and contemporary themes to create pastiche. Vaporwave is a nostalgic and ironic reimagining of post modernism. A pastiche of a pastiche

Style commercials that ran late at night in the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s. Vaporwave slows down and distorts these infomercial aesthetics, playing with the fake optimism of consumer culture—promising happiness through products. Many vaporwave artists sample old infomercials and layer them into their tracks to create an eerie, nostalgic atmosphere, like Nmesh in Dream Sequins.

Japanese & Asian Aesthetics

Old Tokyo skylines, neon-lit urban landscapesThis fascination with Japan stems from how the country was seen as a technological utopia in the 80s, with brands like Sony, Panasonic, and Sega defining cutting-edge electronics and gaming.

Vaporwave is deeply tied to internet culture, especially to the Web 1.0 and 2.0 era of the early 2000s.Vintage 3D renders and 90s animations are great examples. The program Bryce 3D was widely used in the second half of the 90s and even in the early 2000s."
